THANK YOU to all for being so patient to hear news of Gothla UK 2008. And also to all those of you who have continued to sign up for the GothlaUK newsletter. The 2008 Gothla website went online at the weekend at www.gothla.co.uk

Gothla UK 2008 is scheduled to take place in Leicester from 18th – 20th July 2008.

PERFORMERS
This year we welcome back Sashi, Tempest and Ariellah from the USA, and introduce Deva Matisa who created German Gothic Tribal style and Morgana from Spain, who integrates her martial arts background with swords and sabres into tribal bellydance.

Ariellah will be teaching a masterclass in Conditioning, layering and combinations from 2-5pm on Friday 18th July. This class is intermediate level. There are just 20 places at £35 each. Hurry if you want to book as several places have gone already. The venue is a big studio in the premises of the British Theatre Dance Association which is just around the corner from the Days Inn.

PROGRAMME
With more specialist teachers this year, we have allocated three workshops in each slot. There’s a big emphasis on combos this time, and the application of technique and understanding of the body into bellydance style. Tempest will focus on theatrical presentation, focusing on creativity and spontaneity. Deva Matisa will reveal her vampire and German gothic tribal styles.

The price of each workshop for our international guest instructors remains at £25 a session.

We also have several UK instructors in the programme, including Fulya (Lynne Chapman), Dawn O’Brien, Akasha (Heike Humphreys) and Her Royal Hellness Lucretia (Christine Emery) demonstrating her Kali arms. Prices range from £15 to £20.

Dawn will be holding another gothic bellydance makeup workshop last thing on Saturday for those who want to try something experimental for club night. There will be just ten places at £10 a time.

HAFLA
We are lucky to have secured the theatre of the British Theatre Dance Association for the hafla in the evening with seating for up to 150 people.

Performers earmarked so far include Ariellah, Tempest, Sashi, Deva Matisa, Morgana, Fulya, Dawn O’Brien, HRH Lucretia, Akasha, Raqs Macabre. See their photos on the website gallery. More photos will be added as we add to our list.

WEBSITE
The Gothla.UK website is now fully online at http://www.gothla.co.uk taking payments with PayPal. You can pay by credit or debit card even if you don’t have a PayPal account.

You will need to add each item one at a time to the shopping cart. PayPal will give you the option to continue shopping or proceed to checkout. Please ensure that you have not booked more than one workshop offered in the same time slot.

We are in the process of finalising venues, so haven’t been specific about start and end times for Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July, although we expect the daily programme to begin an hour later than it did last year.
