Any free spaces remaining on the workshops will be offered at the GothlaUK desk on the morning of Saturday 17th July 2010, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cancellations will only be accepted up until 16th June 2010. Thereafter, there will be no refunds for cancellations. PLEASE NOTE!! There is an administration fee of £5 per TICKET for any cancellations. So PLEASE be sure when you book that you are ordering the tickets that you really want.
In the unlikely event of the *advertised teacher being unable to offer the advertised workshop, we will do our utmost to replace with a teacher of equal calibre.

At the heart of it all is convergence of dance, technique, flexibility, strength, mind, spirit and art. Train your mind with technique, train your heart to dance and all else will fall in place. In this dance training course emphasis will be placed on the combination of not only technique but an equal counterpart of dance expression. Creative processes and internal work written and oral will also be discussed. The workshop will include an intensive technique and body conditioning section. This mini intensive course is designed to give the dancer the encouragement and tools necessary to take home and incorporate into his or her own practice in order to reach the next level, the next challenge. |

Pirate Choreography, - (Intermediate level and above)
Workshop in which you must forget all that ‘lady good manners’ to become a real Pirate. We will train hard to prepare our body at the beginning of the class. Then we will see tips for make your fusion or gothic dance moves cooler and become yourself in the Captain of the Stage moving like a rough-rocking sea-woman trying 3 different styles: 1) The ‘Drunk’ sailor – 2) The ‘Rough’ (some krumping moves) –3) ‘Not without my boots!’ (bring your boots and learn how to dance, walk, and turn with them). To speak we will use some nautical terms as ‘port’ for left, ‘starboard’ for right, ‘stern’ for back and ‘bow’ for front. Sure Mary Read, Anne Bonny and Cheng I Sao would be proud of you. At the end of the workshop we will learn the last part of the choreography Morgana is going to perform at night, so you can join her at the stage! (if you want). Aye! N.B. This class is limited to 20 places, for intermediate level or above. Not suitable for beginners. Not recommended to people who have medical knee or back problems. |

The Kraken Dance
“The Kraken: Huge creature with lot of tentacles which could break ships in two pieces and eat sailors”. In this workshop we will work our ‘liquid dance’, dancing like a sea-snake. Undulations with all our body, arms and hands to give to our dance a fluid and ‘no-bones’ looking. Liquid sequences in group, pairs of trios moving as octopus or shoals of fish. Experience Level: For intermediate levels and above. |

This hands-on stage make-up workshop will focus on transforming you into a dramatic, debauched vamp, no matter how mortal you appear in real life! Learn retro stage make-up secrets for beautiful heavy-lidded Theda Bara eyes, with swooping, pin-thin stylized brows, a perfect Cupid's Bow mouth and pale, luminous skin. If time permits, we will also go over technique for achieving retro hair styles,like finger waves, spit curls and rag rollers.Please bring a set of false eyelashes, your own make-up and applicators. Tissues and make-up remover will be on hand at the class. Arrive with a well-scrubbed face, leave as a dark silver screen goddess! |

The Dance of Khali Ma:Thai Fingers The invoking off khali (a ritual piece) with the use of thai fingers as a prop, for dark and dramatic moves and working with partners We will start by warming up using yoga stretching. Then hand and finger exercises for fluid movement, drills for locking, dreally slow snakey moves and traveling across the stage, entrance for drama and working with partners Choreography for the ritual invoking of khali ma using Thai fingers. Cool down Please bring a yoga mat, loose clothing, water, and of course some thai fingers if you have them. Orient Noir: Volatile Combinations
Add some dynamite to your dancing! These dangerous, moody and sometimes slightly naughty combinations can be used in either improv or choreographed situations. Mixing a pastiche of movements from traditional Oriental dance, classic burlesque and hot Fosse- style jazz injected with theatrical flair, these combos might look complicated, but are broken down into clear, easy-to-follow segments. We will run the gamut from slow-motion 'gooey' taxim technique to sizzling showgirl teasing; intense entrances and exits, plus combinations with turns, fan-kicks, level changes, and hand and arm embellishments. Locks, Pops and Ticks
Locks , Pops and Ticks are defining moves in Tribal and Dark Fusion belly dance. This is a fun and intense workshop to high energy music where moves will be drilled repeatedly using correct muscle isolation. At the end of this workshop students should have a good grounding of each movement helping you create a creepy / robotic stylisation in your dance to wow your audience. This workshop is suitable for both beginners and intermediate dancers who wish to learn and sharpen up moves and work towards performance. Bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothes. All levels welcome. |

Drama Queen: Exploring Theatrical Oriental Dance This workshop is for performers who want to create a fully realized, theatrical belly dance piece of any genre. Learn invaluable tools to bring a dance from conception to a dazzling “finished product”. In addition to the use of performance space, dynamic movement, dramatic entrances and exits, we will go over poses, pauses and emotional intent in movement. We will explore the dramatics, improvisation and theater games; costuming, props and their use, the effects of stage lighting and your own music selection, tailored to your unique vision. Please be prepared to play/perform for a supportive class critique, and bring a pen and paper for notes. |

Sword-Fighting
This is not a dance workshop. We just learn how we can battle with a mate with wooden swords or similar (so nobody gets injured). Theatrical fights using martial arts and fencing techniques: how to attack, defend, turn with the sword, jump… and enjoy defending with your ‘steal’ the treasures of your ship. Then you can use on your own this moves for dancing, but for the workshop we better battle with our friends. Suitable for all levels. |

Deshret Improvisational Combos
Curious about group improvisation, but craving a darker fusion stylization? Deshret Tribal Style (DTS) takes the delicious dark fusion moves refined by Ariellah and turns them into cue-able combos for group improvisation. We will cover technique, cues, and transitions for several signature combinations from the DTS vocabulary, then get together in groups to drill them in structured improvisation exercises lead by the instructor.
